David Doubilet
David Doubilet, is a contributing photographer and author for National Geographic Magazine specializing in underwater imagery. David has photographed over 70 stories since his first assignment in 1971. David is a contributing editor and feature columnist for several other publications around the globe and author of 12 books about the sea. David is honored to be the recipient of numerous awards such as the Explorers Club Lowell Thomas Award, the Lennart Nilsson Award and the 2008 Golden Plate Award from the Academy of Achievement. David is a fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, a founding member of the International League of Conservation Photographers and was named a National Geographic Contributing Photographer in Residence in 2001.
David's ultimate goal is to reveal the beauty of the hidden world that covers most of our Blue planet.He has spent a lifetime in the sea photographing predator, prey, whole ecosystems and the sculptural beauty of shipwrecks. He well known for his technical use of dramatic light in the sea and he is a pioneering entity of the half and half image showing us a secret world beneath the surface. |
